i listened to my thoughts, but they feel as empty as i feel
i looked at the packet of Marlboro, and it smiled as it usually does
though its smile was unreal, it has been a comfort to those who live a life of alienation and despair
i kept seeking guidance, sight or sound
but it was unable to make it available
which eased my aching need for companionship

Well done! This is kind of like my "Conformity" series.. I really like how you used Marlboro and the colors as contrasts against the black background. Provoking. I like it!

i meant by alienation the failure to exercise one's own free will due to the lack of meaning and purpose in life. contacts are what give purpose to life. thanks a lot for the comment my dear :hug:

indeed, your piece "rejected" has inspired me a lot and this piece is relatively derived from it. i tried to give it an existentialist meaning. i hope i did not violate your copyright ;) i had to look back in the old pieces of the inspiring friends and you were the only one to get me inspired :hug: i am happy you like it :)
